The Developing Person

Discover how to attune with the wisdom of your soul

Yoga promotes the development of cooperation between the impulses of the ego and the wisdom of the soul. As the mind becomes clearer and begins to reflect the soul, we are able to make better choices and enjoy more positive consequences. Explore yoga practices to bring more joy and delight into your life.

The Gift of Life

We have been given the precious gift of life. In order to have joy and delight in life, relate to whatever is happening. Realize all is a manifestation of Spirit. See yourself as a spiritual being. Your soul is the spiritual core within you which gives you life and consciousness. It can be directly contacted through a clear mind. Spirit expresses through the words you say, the things you do and the choices you make.

  • Erik Erikson described the developmental challenges of the stages of human growth
  • One of the spiritual disciplines of yoga is to align the impulses of the senses and ego with the perspective of the soul
  • The Kathopanishad explains that there are two main choices, the good and the pleasant
  • If we allow the ego and senses to do whatever they want, we often face painful consequences
  • Practice the tortoise process for centering within and overcoming ego impulses
  • Substitute a positive idea for a negative one. As the wholesome idea gains strength, the negative one falls away

How to Succeed

As you may know, we do not charge for our courses. All Yoga World content is free and available to you with our blessings. However, we do have a simple, but important request that’s key to the transformations necessary to succeed on the path.

We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.

This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
